What is a CSA?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. Also referred to as a “farm share,” members agree to purchase a weekly share from a local farmer before the season begins. A CSA is a wonderful way to support a local, organic farm. It’s great for members because it provides a convenient way to receive a diverse array of beautiful, nutritious and flavorful food.

What can I expect to receive in my CSA share each week?
The Sandhill Farms boxes contain a variety of produce. We specialize in tender baby greens (arugula, mesclun, salad mixes, spinach, kale), sweet roots (radish, turnips, carrots, beets, fingerling potatoes, sunchokes), tasty seasonal fruits (zucchini, raspberries, winter squash, cucumbers, apples) & aromatic herbs (parsley, basil, cilantro, edible flowers, lavender). We also partner with local farms to supplement our shares with crops that we do not grow (peppers, tomatoes, corn). Our goal is to provide you with a diverse assortment of top quality produce in quantities that you can use.
How much food is in a weekly CSA box?
Each CSA box contains at least five different varieties of produce with some weeks having more quantities and varieties than others. The nature of farming is that we cannot always predict what we will have! We can plant, water, and tend to the plants but weather, soil conditions and other factors all contribute to the outcome.
How many people can a CSA box feed?
A box will typically feed 2 veggie loving adults or a small family of omnivores, depending on your eating habits. Some members use the CSA as their main source of produce during the season. Others use it to supplement what they are already buying at farmer’s markets or the grocery store.
What if I want to cancel my CSA?
CSA shares are non-refundable. As a small-scale Organic farm, we utilize the revenue from our CSA program to fund the farm for the season and can therefore not afford to refund shares. If you would like to transfer your share to another individual or family mid-season, we are always able to change pick-up locations or names.
Do you offer vacation credits?
Yes! Members must give a minimum one week notice by email to the farm before missing a scheduled pick-up. Out of the 16 weeks of pick-ups, members may cancel 2 of their pick-ups and they will receive 'double quantity’ the following week. Any missed pick-ups beyond 2 weeks are non-refundable.
Can I choose what’s in the CSA box?
At this time, there is not an option to choose what’s in your CSA box.
How can I find information about cooking the produce in the CSA box?
The weekly CSA newsletter always has recipes related to the specific items in each box. For additional recipes there are many great food blogs that focus on local, seasonal recipes.
